USA Today has reported that "The Family Guy" might be returning to FOX, due to surprisingly high DVD sales of the first two seasons. The IGN DVD site says the following:
"As many as 35 new episodes could be written and produced for Fox by January 2005, which would make this the first time that a canceled series has been revived based on strong DVD demand and ratings in syndication. The series only ran for three seasons on Fox, but has been one of the highest-rated shows on Cartoon Network. Family Guy, Vol. 1 (Seasons 1 & 2) came out in April of this year and sold more than one million units, mighty impressive for a cancelled series. Family Guy, Vol. 2, released in September, has sold 525,000 copies."
I'm glad that someone at FOX might come to their senses and resurrect this excellent show. Family Guy was one of the funniest shows of it's genre--considerably more funny than most of the drivel that's on TV right now. Like the Simpsons, I actually laugh out loud at at least one thing in each episode, and that's a refreshing feeling.
Good luck, Family Guy!
